I too would love to find the right Nelson from Stokes County, NC.
My gggrandfather was (J?) Marshall Nelson, born 7 Jan 1822, married Elizabeth Standley abt 1840 and had several children: James W, John H, Jasper L, (my ggrandfather) Margaret, Mary, Lucinda, Elijah, Joseph, David, Emmaline Franklin, Thomas, and more who I cannot mane right now.
His father may have been Elisha or Elijah nelson who married Sary Rdford 25 August 1808, Stokes County, although he seems to have been born a long time after the marriage, not unheard of, but unusual.
James and Jasper settled in Braxton County, WV and raised families there.
Do any of these names mean anything to you.
Oh before I forget, Marshall had a grandson named Elijah Green Nelson.
Thanks for your time,
Bev (Nelson) blair
