Jackie, if you are connected to the Jacob Oyler that was in Lincoln county in the late 1780's I hate to tell you, but he is not connected to Valentine Oyler. At least there is no connection that has been proven with-in the US.

Jacob's father is unproven, but is most likely John Oyler, who is shown in the Census in both NC and later in KY when the Jacob Oyler family moved there.

We may be speaking about different Jacob's, but as far as I know the only Jacob in Lincoln was the one that married Elizabeth Fifer.
This line is very well documented, at least from Jacob on, and several of my cousins have members of DAR from Jacob Fifer, Elizabeth's father.

In addition there is a book, " North Carolina Oylers and Their Descendants", for which much of the research was done before the internet (one of the authors hopefully will turn 100 this year) that addresses Jacob's family, as in Jacob and Elizabeth Oyler are the founders of the family addressed in the book.

Quite a few researchers have tried to place Jacob of NC, with the Valentine line, but there is simply no proven connection. If you have documents that prove otherwise, please let me know.
