As far as I know Bertie and Gates were effected as the line was moved about 50 miles north of the older line and ran about 150 to 170 miles west from the east coast. This line took lands once in VA or Nansemond Co area and put them into NC area, mainly Bertie and Gates which border VA in the region under conflict. I've yet to find a map of the exact changes made or any written text to say just where the eastern start point was for survey of the line to the west.
Based on what I've seen on this subject the areas of extreme northern counties of NC which border VA gained an added 50 miles from the prior border, in lands that were once part of VA. Also one text says the line was drawn only about 170 miles west before the survey teams from VA and NC gave up due to disputes and harsh weather conditions which hampered them in a very swampy region... I do know that there is current references to Dismal Swamp in the old Nansemond Co VA area which extends into Gates Co NC. Also Nansemond was once the largest county of VA but today no longer exists, only the City of Suffolk VA is current.
