I've also come to believe that Sarah Havner married into the Henline family. This came about almost by chance. A now-deceased friend from the Henline family mentioned that there was a Heavner/Havner in the family. When I went looking, it seemed that Sarah fit quite well into this situation. Documentation is lacking, but the facts do strongly suggest it.
There is a marriage record between Sarah Ann Havner and James Henline, 4 Dec 1860, in McDowell County. I've seen someone else try to place a Sarah from Lincoln County in this marriage, but (to me) that is really a stretch, geographically speaking. The marriage bond has survived, but doesn't have her name on the front, nor does it give anything to indicate where she was from or who her parents were. A statement signed by the JP only says their names and the marriage date.
Interestingly enough, Sarah and James' son, Jefferson Davis Henline, married a Salina/Celina Heovener (b 1858) in 1885. Her death certificate says she was born in Morganton, Burke County, and was a daughter of William Heavener, another brother of Alfred and Robert and Sarah. That would have made them first cousins....
