At least that is one more place I can exclude in my search. Thank you both so much. So now NYS and NYC are less likely and I will absolutely pursue this Adolph in Colorado, although his father's name was Lorenz. However, the last name is spot on. Never found an Americanized version of the name but, of course, many spelling variations.

Thank you both for your much needed help. Wish NYS would make their indexes more available! My husband's grandfather was a life-long resident of Brooklyn, NY, and buried with his wife in Queens, but I could never find his death record. On a visit to the cemetery, they gave me his place of death as a hospital outside the city in Suffolk County, therefore it was in the NYS records only!

Off to Colorado I go!
