Hi Lynn, thank you so much for the information. Mom had said she thought it had been pneumonia, but as I previously stated, moms memories have often turned out to be in error.
The DW Griffin movie was called Way Down East. It was an epic in the silent film days. Fortunately Edgar did enough movie work (about 8 films) that he is listed on internet movie database. My wife even found one of his two "talkies" on Amazon and got it for me. Since I never met him it was a great delight for me to not only see him, but hear him as well.
I find it interesting that there was no mention of Etta's acting career. I wonder if in those days when a woman became a mother if her career didn't fall by the wayside and discussion of it was dropped because her her new career of wife and mother.
I also learned that an entertainment bigwig lived next door to Edgar and Etta. His occupation in the 1920 census listed him as a theatrical agent. I have wondered if he was Edgar's agent. It seems far too coincidental that this next door neighbor listed his home town of Wilkes-Barre, PA which was the same place Edgar lived from his early childhood through his teenage years. There is a family story about Edgar having an uncle in NY, but I don't know if he was a real blood relative or an "honorary" uncle.
Again, thank you so much for your effort. Its great to have one of my moms memories turn out to be accurate. I was beginning to wonder if they could be trusted at all, so this is kind of big.
