I know that FamilyTreeDNA is still looking for submissions to their Strickland DNA group. I'm waiting on Y36 results in Feb (had a 30% off sale just before xmas). So we have potentially solved the four male relationship issue from steuben county between 1800-1840. Can either of you help me with the following two ladies?
From Perry Streeters files
iii. [ELIZABETH], b. 1809; d. 1885; m. ALLEN SPENCER, b. 1805, d. 1882.
Children, surname Spencer: 1. Daniel. 2. Hannah, b. 1829; d.
Woodhull, Steuben Co., NY 30 Aug 1898; m. Squires.
iv. [LUCIA ANN?], "of Bath" m. Kennedyville [Kanona], Steuben Co., NY March
1847 DANIEL DERVEL "of Bristol" [Ontario Co., NY?].
The thing is that I know Lucia Ann is not a daughter of Daniel Strickland sr, but I do not know about Elizabeth.
I have found the following information from 10,000 Vital Records of Western New York, 1809-1850
Strickland, Elizabeth 8413
strickland, Lucia Ann 2493
Strickland, Sarah 2367
Sarah Strickland m 4/10/1842 to Davis, Elihu in Walworth (Wayne county, NY); Rev. Daniel Lyon (there were two Strickland clans living in wayne Count in 1840 Census).
Mrs. Lucia Ann Strickland of Bath, Steuben County m 2/11/1847 Dervel Daniel of Bristol, Ontario County, in Kennedyville; Rev J Case
(Kennedyville is now Falconer, Chautauqua County)
Elizabeth Strickland of Howard m Spencer, Allen of Jasper in H (both villages are in Steuben)
(3-1/21/1829)
I requested the three newspaper articles and found Sarah and Elizabeth's to be inclusive of all data.
For Mrs. Lucia Ann I found this information:
In Kennedyville, on the 11th inst. by Rev. J. Case, Mr. Daniel Dervel, of Bristol, Ont. Co. to Mrs. Lucia Ann Strickland, of Bath, formerly of Connecticut.
I'm wondering if Lucia Ann belongs to your group that came down from CT, and was wondering if you would have any reason to suppose that Elizabeth could belong to one of your Stricklands instead of Daniel Sr.
