Most of the Comstock line in Rhode Island were connected to the Arnold Family. My Line of Atwells were related to them and because we were strong supporters of Benedict Arnold it made it difficult to live in the United States at that time.
(We are also related to Ethan Allen but people forgot that)

The main branch of Comstocks in New England are decendents from the Connecticutt line. Jared Comstock who was a teacher in New London moved near Coopertown. He had no children but several Comstocks may have followed him.

Henry Tompkins Paige Comstock who was born in Canada visited Coopertown often. He was the owner of the Comstock Lode.
William Comstock Ace of Scouts

Sarah Sabrina Cooper Comstock the Niece of James Fenimore Cooper brought the name Uncas into the family tree. You see a forefather of many Comstock was Kingsland Comstock who married Mary Atwell in the 1690's. The Daughter of Benjamin Atwell and Mary a Royal Mohegan. Later Joseph Atwell married Martha Comstock early in the 1700's.

Her son Wiliam (Buffalo Bill Comstock) left home at age 12
and though he was Cherokee-American however had he been able to research his roots as we have he would discover he was part Mohegan not Cherokee. He was a Pony Express Rider and Scout for General Custer.
