I'm looking for information on a James Kearns and family that lived in Geneva in the late 1880s/1890s.
The family lived in Rochester around 1880 where James was a blacksmith, then they are listed in the 1892 state census as living in Geneva. The wife was Margaret and the children are Julia, James F, Mary C, John E, and Cecilia M. The youngest son, John Edward Kearns was born in Seneca Castle (according to his obit from the Syracuse paper).
While I've been able to track the movement of the wife and several of the children to Syracuse sometime between 1902 and 1910... James (the husband) seems to have vanished. He is not listed as living with the rest of the family in Geneva in 1900 (but Margaret is not listed as a widow either, just the head). They lived in the 3rd Ward.
Looking either for evidence of James's death or divorce between 1892 and 1900 (maybe city directories from the period or death records - searched the online cemetery listings and so far nothing). Also interested in property records if available, any further proof of residence there.
