Bob: Do you know if the sacramental records or parish lists from the old St. Patrick's are held at the address you gave, i.e., the church itself, or must one go through the Archdiocese offices for this info? One of my husband's maternal ancestral families, Hugh and Sarah Donnelly Kelly, belonged to this parish. Their son, "Honest" John Kelly, was a Congressman and later a Tammany Hall leader in the 1870's and 1880's. He had no children, but his sister, Jane Kelly, is an ancestor, and this connection is our best chance of getting early info on this family, Kelly being such a common name. Jane Kelly married John Arnold, of Charleston, SC, and their son, John Kelly Arnold, lived in the family home on Broome St. The family later moved to Brooklyn, but Honest John Kelly was buried from the new St. Patrick Cathedral in the 1880's.
