Hello!
I'm trying to find my American ancestors and would appreciate any help you could give me. My great great grandmother Aurora Kivimäki emigrated from Finland to New York in 1913. In 1920 she married Väinö G Huhtanen (later named Gustave Huhtanen, born Feb 23 1890 in Finland), and they had a son named William Gustav Huhtanen on May 1 1921 in New York.
Aurora died in 1944 while they were living in Kings county. I have found records of that Väinö was alive in 1951, still living at the same adress in Kings county, but I would like to know when and where he died, and what happened to William.
I am also having some trouble figuring out when Väinö came to NY. On his declaration of intention from 1931 it says that his last foreign residence was Finland, but that he came to New York from Colon, Panama on December 20, 1917. On his WWI registration card I have an adress in Manhattan, but I can't find him in the 1920's census. Is there a reason he wouldn't have been registered in the census?
Any help is appreciated a lot!
