Calcium-Robert H. Ward 75,Calcium,formerly of Philadelphia,died early this morning in the House of Good Samaritan where he had been a patient a short time.He had been in failing health for the past year.
A graveside service at the family's convenience will be held in Sandy Hollow Cemetery,Philadelphia.Arrangements are with Frederick Bros.Funeral Home,Theresa.
Surviving are his wife,Alice;three sons James and Kenneth both of Philadelphia,and Charles of Calcium;five daughters,Mrs.Donald(Mary)Piquet,Central Square,Mrs.Ray(Dorothy)Stephenson,Rossie,Mrs.Norbert(Barbara)McKee,Lynchburg Va.Mrs.Michael(Sharlene)Bacon,Theresa,and Bonnie Ward,Black River;16 grandchildren,four grgrandchildren;four brothers,Howard and Douglas of Carthage,Donald,Antwerp and Reginald,Philadelphia.
A son Richard H.was killed in Vietnam in April 1970 at the age of 21.
Born Sept.8 1911,in Philadelphia, a son of Charles H. and Susan Wood Ward ,he attended local schools.On Jan.28 1941 he married Alice Pierce of Theresa.Mr.Ward entered the Army on Jan 26 1942,serving with the field artillery.Following his discharge on Sept.29 1945,he worked for a short time for Bentley & Settle Co,Carthage.Later he was employed by the Town of Philadelphia for 25 years,retiring in 1979.They lived in Phila.until 1981,when they moved to Calcium.Mr.Ward was a member of the Robert Markewich Post American Legion in Philadelphia.
