Hi folks:
A relative of mine who was a lifelong Albany resident was committed to the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie in 1936. I am wondering if there would have been any hearing or court involvement before her commitment, and, if so, does anyone know what court?
I called Surrogate's Court yesterday and the person I spoke with wasn't sure if they would have that type of records. I will be in Albany in a few weeks but only have one day to do research and want to go to the right court (if indeed there is a court that would hold records) rather than find myself spinning my wheels.
