Thanks Linda, I'll give her a call tomorrow. The birth record will be my first request from Albany. I'm having to work in steps because it looks as though my great grandfather was married twice. I can see his second wife (and 4 more kids) in the census records from 1895 to 1930, but nary a word about the mother of my grandfather. So once I find out who she is, I'll go for the marriage records.
