Is anyone familiar with the early Town/Vital records of Durham? I am looking for Johnsons who were there in the first part of the 1700s.

The LDS library catalog mentions town and vital records (on one film) from 1729-1841. How are they organized? How are they laid out. Would one be able to find the vital records among the town records easily or are they mixed in? Have they been transcribed?
