I am looking for any leads on NANCY (may be a nickname for ANN) WOOD or WOODS, born about 1776-1780, perhaps in western N.H. About 1798-99, she married Simon FISHER who was born in Newfane, Windham Co., VT, son of Daniel FISHER and Hannah SADLER.
Simon FISHER and Nancy WOOD/WOODS had at least two sons, George W. FISHER, born 8 Jan 1800, and Silas W. (either Wheeler or Wheelock) FISHER, born 6 Dec 1801. Both births are listed in the town records of Newfane, Windham, VT, but I am not positive the births actually occurred there.
Nancy WOOD/WOODS must have died sometime between Silas FISHER's birth 6 Dec. 1801 and Dec. 1804 when her husband, Simon, married again. I have been unable to find any record of Nancy's birth, marriage, death, or burial in Windham County, VT, so I am thinking they may have occurred just across the river in N.H.
On the 1880 U.S. Census, Silas FISHER, then living in Fayston, Washington Co., VT, lists his mother as having been born in N.H. I know that VT was claimed by both N.H. and N.Y. at one time, so I am not sure if she was born in what was then N.H. but is now VT or in what is now N.H.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
