Bill,
This may not answer your question, but it may give you an idea or two. This includes a bit of Missouri history:
The following information was taken from "The State of Missouri - An Autobiography," by Walter Williams. Published by E. W. Stephens, Columbia, Missouri, 1904 (located at, either the State Library or State Archives in Jefferson City - I can't recall exactly which). The following are some of the main/brief points in Missouri's history:
1799 "The year of the hard winter." (Pg 11)
1814 "Many Indian massacres occurred in Missouri." (Pg 17)
1832 "Asiatic cholera killed over 400 people in St. Louis." (Pg 27)
1833 "Over 100 people die from cholera at St. Charles." (Pg 28)
1836 "Great floods throughout Missiouri." (Pg 31)
1844 "Great floods on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers." (Pg 34)
1867 "Asiatic cholera prevailed along the Missouri River." (Pg 46)
