A bit more on this family (adding to J. McAfee's info)...
William Leander Grimes had two sisters in Kentucky: Mrs. Warren Finley, and Mrs. Evline Kinkaid of Louisville, KY. This Grimes family is said to have come to Kentucky from Virginia.
Charlotte Platt Wright is his wife's full name.
Their son Absalom Carlisle Grimes & Lucy Jones Green Glascock (b. Aug. 6, 1842 d. Nov. 28, 1903) had seven children but only two lived to adulthood.
Their children:
(son)--James G. Grimes b. 1866 d. (according to tombstone) at age 1 yr. 8 days.
(son)--Hudson D. Grimes (middle name is probably "Downs") b. May 1868 (?).
(unknown son) b. 1870
(daughter) Charlotte (Emma Lottie) Grimes b. 1872
(son) Mitchell b. (?)
The children who didn't survive are supposed to be buried in Barkley Cemetary in New London, MO but I only found a stone for James G.
Hudson Grimes married Minnie Baker of Calhoun Co. Illinois, moved to Los Angeles, CA (don't know of children)
Charlotte Grimes (Lottie) married Walter Addison Mitchell of Lincoln Co. MO. Son Albert Carlisle Mitchell was born May 31, 1893 in Lincoln Co. MO. Other possible children Addie, Walker, I.N. (?)
Lottie's son, Albert Carlisle Mitchell married Ann O'Neal of Norwalk, Connecticut. Daughters (as of 1924) were Jane and Dolly Mitchell.
Absalom Carlisle Grimes remarried after Lucy's death, marrying Nell Take in 1905 (she was 22 years old and said to be his ward--don't know what that was about or what became of the marriage).
William Leander Grimes and Charlotte Wright had a daughter too but I haven't found any trace of her.
Ralls County, Missouri (instructions said I must mention that)
