Catherine MILLER was born in TN on 20 April 1831. Her parents are believed to be John and Mary (SPECARD?) MILLER. John and Mary lived in Gasconade County ca 1850-1860, and then in St. Clair County in 1860.

Catherine married Thomas Jefferson ROOK (b. ca 1825 in Grainger Co., TN) about 1850. He deserted the family after the birth of their son, John Washington ROOK, in 1859.

Eventually, Catherine and her son, John, moved to Bates County, Missouri where Catherine died on 12 February 1886. She is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Bates County, MO. Her son, John, died on 7 January 1940 and is also buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Bates County.

I am related through Catherine's daughter, Susan Ellen ROOK, who is noted in the 1880 Federal Census in Schell City, Vernon County, Missouri, living in the Home of S A and Rebecca Hill (relationship unknown).
