I just saw this posting and I too would be very interested in getting a copy. I do agree that a CD would be best and most likely cheaper to produce.
.pdf is a good format because it compacts the text , but some aren't searchable. Google has scanned hundreds of out-of-print, hard to find historical (non-fiction) books that have entered the public domain, in the pdf format, and none are searchable. Slogging through 400-700 pages to find the small details can be tedious.
I agree that Word (.doc - not everyone's up to .docx yet)would be the best route.
