Pilkingtons (at least mine) are mentioned in the book "Ancestry and Posterity of the Lyles: Pioneer Settlers in VA." That is where I have obtained what little information I have. Lettie/Letitia/Leatrice Murphy b. c. 1861 in Cooper Cty., MO married John L. McDowell Pilkington 18/Dec/1884 in Cooper Cty., MO and they had at least six children and possibly eight. John L. McDowell Pilkington's parents were Samuel C. Pilkington, M. D. and Mary Lyle McDowell.
Lettie's parents are John Wm. Murphy and Louisa Duke Johnson Graves.
