Hello!

The 1850 MS Census shows a 70 year old Mary Powers in the household of Felix Grundy Shipp. Mary Powers' tombstone is in the Shipp cemetery right next to Felix's grave. It shows she died in 1860 and was born in Abbeville,SC, but the 1850 Census entry says Georgia. Could she have been Mary McClanahan, Felix's mother, or perhaps his mother-in-law, Mary Higgenbotham? If it was either one, where did the name Powers come from? I can't find where either one married a Powers between Josiah's death in 1843 and Mary's death in 1860.

Also, if you are a Felix G. Shipp descendant named Shipp, would you consider getting a DNA analysis to see if we might match up? My line of McClanahans does not fit with any other results, so I'd like to see if we came from brothers. John McClanahan was born in KY in 1805, four years before Felix.

PLease advise. Thanks!
John McClanahan
