Looking for information on James West Shattuck. James was born Oct 1837 in Mississippi to David Olcott Shattuck and Elizabeth Sanders. James and his family removed from East Feliciana, Louisiana to California in 1852. He was in the 1860 census for Sonoma County, California. The 1870 census shows him in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, with a wife Sarah, and daughters Miriam, Elizabeth and son Ripley. In 1880, in Wilkinson County, James is a widower, clerking in a store, and his now four children are boarders in Woodville.

1900 James is in Bolivar County. No info after that.

Miriam was listed as being born in Louisiana in the 1870 census, and her younger siblings in Mississippi.
