If you are still researching your family's ancestry...I am currently doing genealogy on my family (Davis). I came across your archived message on Rootsweb.com and thought I may be able to help you regarding the Hugh Davis plantation.

I think you may also have information for me regarding the Scott's. My 3rd great grandfather (my father's grandfather's mother's father) was named Joseph "Joe" Scott. He had a wife name Leticia and they had children...one named Anna Eliza Scott. Joe, Leticia, and Anna were once owned and worked for the Jefferson Davis family. Anna Eliza is my 2nd great grandmother.

Have you come across these names in your Scott line?
