You may be able to find what you need in the LDS records on microfilm. Is there a Family History Center near you?
You can go to www.familysearch.org and check. I saw a number of centers listed in Washington state.

To find out what records they have click on Library> Card Catalog> Place Search > enter Newton Mississippi> click on Miss Newton (the other one with 2 Newtons is for the town) you will get a list of Newton County records available. It takes a lot of clicking but the information about what films are available and can be ordered for viewing is there.
You can call the FHC and they will help you. Since FHCs are staffed by volunteers hours are limited and quality of service varies but I have had very good service from them.
Another plus most FHCs have Ancestry.com available.
Hope this helps. June in Mississippi
