Our ggg grandfather, David Gaston, died in or near Cooper Wells, Byrum (Hinds County), Mississippi just after his parole at Vicksburg. He passed on August 20, 1863 at the home of Mr. M.E. Jackson. In the letter Mr. Jackson wrote to David's wife, Mary, it is told that he is buried near "here". Any "return" correspondence is to be sent to Mr. "I" (or "J") Williams, Cooper Wells, Hinds Co., Miss. David was a SGT., in the 59th Mtd, Tennessee, Inf, Co "G". We would love to have information regarding the burial site of David. We have searched for many years just to find the general location and just found it yesterday. So, if anyone has suggestions on where the burial site is please let us know.
