I printed your Oct query and put it in my USM look up notebook. I was at the library yesterday looking for an obit in a Sept 1955 paper.
I also searched for John Henry Morton in the Hattiesburg American from Oct 13, 1955 to Oct 22, 1955. I found obits for each day but John Henry Morton was not among them. Sorry I didn't find him.
