From a history of Desoto Co., MS published 1999 by the Genealogy Society of Desoto County: Lemuel and Henry Banks were sons of Ralph and Rachel Banks of Elbert Co., GA. Lemuel came to Desoto Co., MS in 1836 (my note: the year the Indians signed a treaty to sell thier lands) bought up lnad there. Lemuel married Louisa Americas Tait, dau. Gen. James Minor Tait. Lemuel has many descendants still in the area.
I know that Judge George Banks Ready lives in Hernando and has an interest in genealogy and local history (he is a distant cousin to my line) and could be reached via the courthouse in Hernando. One of my relative (William Henry Johnston) also had a business on the square in Hernando in the 1840's. There are several White families listed in the sawm book mentioned above, but none included your Thomas W. White family that I could find. It is one of those books where local reasidents submitted family histories and his family may no longer live in the area. I will be in Hernando later on and will see what I can find.
