The records of the Desoto County Relief Committee during the worst of the six Epidemics of Yellow Fever and Typhoid Fever in this area kept records of the ill and dead in 1878. Entires were made by people who often knew each other in a small closely knit communtiy and often identifying first names, etc. were not recorded (probably because the writer "knew" who he or she meant)
There is an entry for a death from typhoid for a "Mrs. West" September 8, 1878.
