The son of someone in Lewiston married and moved to Mankato.
We used to have an umlaut, but we changed it. I'm not really sure when. I think some people had it and changed it, but others decided not to.
The first Luhmann in my tree originally came from Hanover, Germany; he moved when he was about 10. I haven't uncovered his parents yet.
