Does anyone know what the laws were on common law marriages between 1953 and 1965? My g-gp were married in 1924, then divorced around 1941, then got back together about 10 years later, but never remarried. They lived in Mich from about 1953 to when he died in 1965. I know at one time around 1949 she had remarried, but I can find no proof of divorce to that man.

My g-gm recieved social security on my gg-gf after he passed. I'm just wondering on the laws of that in Michigan at that time, if anyone happens to know?
