Cathy, I hope you're still posting! This old posting I found had a Wallace Cummings going from Canada to Michigan about 1910. Can you set the wayback machine a century earlier and connect with David Cummings? He was married to Martha Sutherland. Several Cummings and Sutherlands went to Canada about 1803, and he and his wife returned with a couple of canadian born children, first to Niagara, New York about 1825, then Ypsilanti about 1835, then Bethel, Branch County MI about 1837, then LaGrange Co. Indiana in 1840 near his brothers Major and William, then back to Branch County by 1850? His son William Major Cummings came to California with a sister Susannah Cummings Hartsough in 1853. I'm a great grandson still here in CA.
