Try the Plymouth Mail later called Plymouth Mail and Observer. It started about 1887.

The Plymouth Public Library has the paper on microfilm and there are binders of indexes there also which are a big help.

I had a family here before Michigan was a state and they settled in what is now Livonia at one time Nankin Twp. I found them in the paper. I only wish the paper had started sooner.
