ahh! Pressman! much better than my first guess "prison"! LOL
The Mate we are looking for was Mate Cameljic (spelled variously in Dalmatia as Cemelich/Cemeljic/Cameljic - and about 50 ways in US!); born about 1874 in Kolan, Dalmatia (now part of Croatia, at one time Yugoslavia, and usually called Austria in census returns); he arrived in NY on July 13, 1909 on board the Alice, and was going to Columbus Ohio. His wife (at home in Kolane) was Kata - I've not found an immigration record for her. We've found many, many men going from Kolane/Kolan to Columbus Ohio. The ones we've located (few) work for the Buckeye Steel mill on Parsons Ave, or in related work. We can only guess that once they got out there, they quickly found their way to better employment. This man in Michigan is the closest spelling I've found so far in US for our Mate. I've searched every which way in the census records for him, with no luck.
