Hi Dale,

Sorry for my delayed response, I was in DC doing research at the DAR Library on my Quaker lines.

John Packard had a daughter named Azubah (1764-1823). She is listed as a child in the Mayflower Cooke book. She married Solomon/Salmon Fay in Cummington in 1784 (Streeter, p115). Salmon got caught up in the Shay's Rebellion (Oath of Allegiance, Dyer, p. 105) They move to Jericho VT by 1789 when their third daughter, Sarah was born. (Jericho birth record). Salmon is in the 1791 VT census and takes the Freeman's Oath in 1795. They have a daughter Azubah in 1791 (Jericho birth record).

Salmon and Azubah's oldest daughter Clarissa married Isaac Benoni Andrews (History of Richmond, VT, p. 75.) Isaac's eldest son Horace married Salmon and Azubah's daughter Azubah in 1811-1812. (So, Horace married his step-aunt.) I have not found any marriage record for them in Jericho or Richmond Vermont. Horace and Azubah are remanded out of town (Richmond, VT, Town Records) in Nov 1815.

Both the Salmon Fay and Horace Andrews families leave Vermont in 1816-1818 and were in the 1820 census in Champaign County, Ohio. Salmon and Azubah both die in the 1920s. There are no death records that early in Ohio nor is there a will or admin paper for him.

Horace and Azubah move to Union county, Ohio by 1828 (Uco, Ohio chattel tax records). They have 6 children. John Morris Andrews, the 3rd child is born in 1818 in Ohio. He married first Susan Dixon (MC, Union Co, Ohio). They have 4 children, and she died at the age of 26, 3 days after the birth of her last child.

After 9 years he married Mary Jane Washburn (MC, Union Co, Ohio). They have 11 children. She died in 1879. John M. sold all of his land (3 land sales) and took his family to Kansas where he is in the 1880 census. He is in the 1895 KS state census and 1900 census living with his daughter and her husband. He died in 1902 (KS and Ohio obits).

My application was been flagged because I need to prove that:

John Packard in Cummington and John Packard in Plainfield are the same. Yes, the town of Plainfield was formed out of Cummington in 1785, but the genies in Plymouth are not satisfied. And that LT. John Packard was the same man as Deacon John Packard. I think I can demonstrate that using the church records.

I need an alternate proof of maiden name for Azubah Fay who married Horace Andrews since there are no marriage docs in VT. (Hence John Packard's will, I want to see if he left money to his daughter or granddaughter.)

The moves west are problematic. I cannot find any proof of residency (no land records) except for the census.

I have been asked by the Mayflower folks for a "full-blown" proof summary for 3 generations, from Azubah Packard Fay through her daughter Azubah Fay Andrews and John Morris Andrews.

I have consulted Cummington,VR, I do not know about the Corbin collection. I have never had ANY luck with NEHGS. As a matter of fact I dropped my membership. Interesting, some of the DAR folks feel the same way.
