hello all,
i'm new to this whole thing and hopin someone can point me in the right direction becuase ancestry. com service does not seem to help. my dad's name was William Mello and he was born in dartmouth MA on 7/14/23 and died 1/22/91 i know nothing about his folks except names such as his dad and mom and his brother and sisters names. i'm not sure if his father was born in the states or Portugal. i never really saw much of my dad and when he died i was really young. now i have 2 children and a grandchild due in 2 months and really would like to find out my family history. another bad thing is aside from my wife and children, i have no contact with any family members who may know about him. for instance, prior to marrying my mom, my dad had 8 kids, but i saw most for the first and last time at his funeral. also my mom died the same year 1991 so i cant ask her and when i was a kid i never thought to ask, becuase 1. i didnt think they would have died so soon, and 2. when your a kid you just dont think of that stuff to ask. any help anyone can give me will be really appreciated.
