Is anyone familiar with any Church of the Brethren records from the late 1700s? The family of Joh. Georg Harter and Eva Bracker appeared in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church records in 1769, and I know they moved to Franklin County, VA, about 1792. There was a Brethren community in Franklin County, and when the family moved to western Ohio in the early 1800s most of them were Brethren (Dunkard or German Baptist Brethren at the time). My premise is that they began to associate with the Brethren in Maryland, and accompanied them to the growing community in Virginia. However, I have yet to find any evidence to either prove or disprove my premise. Even one mention of a Harter in the Brethren records would tend to support my hypothesis.
