Hi Karen,

The house you refer to in your message is the Autrey House Museum which was built in 1848 by our ancestor, Absalom Autrey and his wife, Eilzabeth Norris. The Autrey family moved to this location from Perry County Ala. in 1847 and the cemetery you refer to is the resting place of the Autrey family members and unidentifed and unmarked graves of slaves. The dog-trot style home was built from lumber Absalom and the family members harvested from his land.

To learn more of the Autrey family, and who are buried there, please visit my web site which has a section dedicated to this huge family. Absalom and Elizabeth had 15 children, 12 of them survived the Civil War to present their parents with 107 grandchildren, of whom I'm trying to locate.

I would love to know more about the Broughton family and when they lived there. Absalom Autrey's last son, Charley Henry Autrey and his family lived there and it was eventually sold outside the family.

I look forward to hearing from you, please contact me personally at jmautrey@email.msn.com

I am in the process of adding a "cyber" visit to the Autrey Homeplace on my web site.

Thanks for your interest in this fascinating historical home place.
