Do you have a subscription to Ancestry? I found A history of the Catholic Church in the dioceses of Pittsburg and Allegheny. Chapter XXIV, The Donegal Settlement, Armstrong Co., it speaks of the death of Rev. Peter M. Doyle (referred to as later Father Doyle) and his sucession to Rev. Patrick J. Quilter. Too much to transcribe here. Only thing is - states he (Doyle was born in Vermont)he died in route to stay with a brother in Illinois, took sick in Vandalia, Illinois and died on July 21, 1876 age 47.
Just found the Doyle/Quilter might be something.
