I'm working on my application to the DAR, as I'm a direct descendant of George Bruton who was born in 1762 in South Carolina and served as a private in the Revolution. After the war, he obtained a land grant and got land in Wayne County, KY where he spent the rest of his life. I'm having a hard time finding any documentation (documents that the DAR would deem legitimate) that links George to his son David Addington Bruton (born in 1789). The DAR won't accept any documentation other than "legal" documents, so there's my dilemma. I've been looking for a will of George that would name his children -- but I can't find a will. I've also looked for church records (like a baptism record of David that would name George as his father) -- but no luck with that, either. I've also searched for legal documents of George's wife Martha Addington -- but again, I come up empty-handed. So...can anyone help with this? PLEASE!!!!
