A quick note that will at least solve the problem as to where the 1864 date originated:

Muhlenberg County, Kentucky Marriages 1802-1904 by Hopkins County Genealogical Society, 1987
lists the following:

Marriage Book No. II
James W. Sharp - Eliza N. Yonts - Jan. 15, 1864

It is listed in with 1865 marriages! I'm sure it was a typo - that we all make! I'm changing the date in my book to 1865. Thanks for the correction.
