If you haven't already seen this webpage, check it out. I believe you need to be looking in Calloway Co for records that might reveal James's children. His father was Christopher Woodward of Wake Co, NC.

Some of the Woodards from Edgecombe Co, NC moved to Robertson Co, TN and you have to be very careful not to confuse them with the brothers Richard and James Woodward.
