Graves County, KY, has wonderful newspapers resources at the library.
They have a man now in his 80's, Don Simmons, who years ago started indexing all the local newspapers microfilm for genealogy. He has a young lady now he is training to continue this work. The Graves County Newspaper Genealogical Abstract Indexes I know go back to the 1870's because I have used them that far back and I think they are up to the 1950's or 60's now. I first found the indexes at the Mid-Continent Public Library near Kansas City.
I however live closer to Graves Co. in Southeast Missouri and have made several trips to use the newspapers. My family was in Graves Co. from the time the county was formed in the late 1820's up through the 1960's. The Graves County Library has a great genealogy section and a very active Graves County Genealogical Society. Two or three members come to the library each day to help people with their research. I try to go every three to six months and stay 3 or 4 days, because I have found so much information and interesting stories about family members, as well as, birth, marriage, and death records and obits. If you can not make it there the GCGS members do try to help by mail and email. They have a website:
http://www.gravesgenealogy.org/.
They have monthly meeting at the Graves County Library on the second Monday with several informative programs, so I try to plan my research trips the second Monday through Wednesdays. Since Monday and Tuesday the library is opened until 8;00 in the evenings and if they are having a good program that month at their meeting, I stay on Monday night to attend. I hope this helps.
