Are you aware that John COE executed a deed for 50 acres of land on Kettle Creek on 07 Mar 1828 in favor of grantee Eliza DeWESSE? This deed was recorded on 17 Jul 1828. See Cumberland Deed Book F at Page 347.
See:
http://www.cumberlandcountyclerk.com/imagesworking/D/F/347A....The deed is signed by John COE and witnessed by Charles LEWIS, William KIRKPATRICK and Isaiah COE. However, the deed is NOT executed by a WIFE of John COE, who would hav ebeen separately examined had COE been married and conveyed land at that time in Kentucky.
This supports a very strong inference that COE was a widower at the 07 Mar 1828 date of this deed and that he LATER remarried a Nancy sometimes thereafter.
