I have searched for Barbee's all over this part of KY. trying to link/prove my line to them! My Barbee line starts with (Rev) Joseph Russell Barbee b 18 July 1815 Bourbon Co., KY. I have no proof of his parents names, but suspect that they were Jesse Barbee and Anne Headington. Jesse was the son of Joseph & Leeannah Barbee. This line of Barbee's goes back to Andrew Barbee and Sarah E. Mason Barbee. Again, I repeat I have no proof of my connection of Rev Joseph Russell Barbee to Jesse Barbee. I also have not found connection to your Robert Barbee - which seems to be a mystery to other researchers!
