Drowning of Strother Taylor, son of Grayson B Taylor, Anderson Co., KY
On 2 March 1860, the Lawrenceburg and Camdenville turnpike was completed…the (toll) gate to be erected to the west side of the house of Grayson B Taylor. (p 73 states “)
In December 1859 (Order Book D) the first five miles of the Lawrenceburg and Camden turnpike was completed In a depression in this road about one mile west of Lawrenceburg, in front of the residence of Grayson B aylor (the residence a large brick one and a half story, since destroyed by fire, the farm now in 1927 owned by Holly Witherspoon), a very considerable fill was made. The culvert crossing this pike was made near the level of the poke to that a large and deep pond was made. Strother Taylor, son of G B Taylor, on his way home from some part of the farm, was accisdentlaly drowned in this pond. After this accident many people, passing at night. claimed to see ghosts.
