Thanks for your reply. This could well be my Mattie. I had found Cabell in the 1920 Anderson Cty census with daughter Maria and grandson James but could not find Mattie although I knew she was still living. It is certainly possible that she worked as a seamstress and might have lived in.

Age given for Mae Roach and ages of her children appear to place her out of running as one of Mattie and Cabell's daughters, however.

I found the family with children's names on the 1900 census for Anderson Cty. Daughter Margaret was born 1892 and Mary (or possibly Maria) was born 1904. Also noted are sons Miles C. born MS 1883, William born MS 1886, and Charles born KY 1888.
