I'm not sure if they are or not. I doubt it, unfortunatelly. My mother and her sister are both in their 80's and are trying to remember things from their youth. It would be nice if they were because that would be a huge chunk out of our brickwall that we have had for 60 some odd years.

Mary died in 1957 in Chetopa, Ks. when I was 3 years old so I am working as a disadvantage. The only thing I remember about her was that she smoked a pipe and she let me have a drag on it. Ugh!

We've had a g-aunt working on this also my aunt and now my cousin and I. All we have is the 1900 and 1910 Jasper county Missouri census and death certificate that tells us that she was born in Iowa but the town is what has had us stumped. It could either be Gallopolis, Oh. or Gillespie, Ia. I think the confusion was my hope coming through.

My aunt did remember that her g-grandfather was also called Dave and my mother seems to remember that Mary had a twin brother but I have to take some of this with a grain of salt. Mary's mother was also named Mary but we don't know her maiden name unless it was Johnson.

I was wondering if the tribes in Iowa would have been enumerated in 1880 by the Federal government or would they have had their own census done as in Indian Territory, present day Oklahoma. Also what township would Gillespie have been enumerated with? I know it is in Benton County Bruce Twp. but in the 1880 census there was no Bruce Twp.

Oh well where would the fun be if it were all easily handed to us. Thank you for your help, at least we have other avenues to look at now.
