Don't know if this helps you or not, but in looking at the 1850 census for Wabash CO., Ind., I found a Samuel Hartsell, age 25, b. in OH married to Sarah, age 20 b. in LA, with a 1-year-old son, John.

I am looking for parents of Willis Hartsell, also in Noble, Wabash Co., and his wife Lucinda Richards.
