Daniel Carr II was my g-g-g-grandfather. I have the Carr family Bible and live in LaGrange County. He is buried about 3 miles from my home in ENglish Prairie cemetery. He was born, according to the Bible, in RI, 30Sep1795, married at Port Ann, NY, 24Dec1815, to Martha Mason, B. 13Aug1794. Martha's grandfather, Jesse, is one of my DAR ancestors. I have the list from the Bible of all their children, births, some marriage and death records. Their daugter, Mary Ann, married my g-g-grandfather, Ransom Willard, and they are buried at Pleasant Lake, IN. According to records, the Carr family farm is where the Prairie Heights school comlex now stands on the LaGrange Co. side near Steuben County. I would be happy to send you a copy of the complete Bible record. I sent a copy of it to the DAR library 30 years ago. Daniel Carr II was the son of Daniel Carr I, and the family was Quaker. Daniel was involved in the Wyoming County, PA massacre where he was captured by the Indians and held for 7 years. His father-in-law was James Hadsell (Hadcill in our BIble), who was an old Indian fighter and killed by them.

I am having a bit of trouble tying Daniel I to Daniel II, although its pretty accepted and availbale info. But, DAR requires absolute proof! I am also curious whether Martha Mason's father served Zephaniah, b. 8/29/1766. Too young?

Let me know if you who you are...another Daniel Carr!!

Best, Miriam Carnahan
